Aikido meaning “The Way of Mind and Body in Harmony,” and is the most graceful and yet powerful of the martial arts.

Aikido is solely defensive and non-competitive but once the student begins ‘feeling’ the techniques, it soon becomes apparent how effective Aikido can be, without the need for size or great strength.

Incorporated into the curriculum are Weapons Skills, Healing Skill (Kiatsu), and Personal Development.

Aikido is suitable for male and females of all ages.

Mike Hyatt . Brown Belt

Mike brings a wealth of experience, gained in his Study of a selection of martial arts and a life time of working in the film industry. He started his Aikido practice in 2011 and has gained his Brown Belt.

After being close due to Covid for eighteen months we are happy to say that we are now up and running again.

Our classes are filling very quickly and Sensei Simon and Mike Sensei are very happy with the progress of the junior squad with many students already achieving their Yellow Tag and Yellow belts. VERY WELL DONE.

We are very excited to announce the commencement of our adults group which has already grown to nine members in just two weeks.

I hope our new ladies and men are able to make Wednesday’s Aikido a regular date in their diaries.

Very well done to Lara Hughes-jones for obtaining her Yellow tab in record time. After just two weeks Lara’s natural talent allowed her to defend her self whilst demonstrating her Irimi-nage in a randori against three attackers. Very well don.
